The
Gifted and Talented Association of Montgomery
County, Maryland, Inc. (GTA) is a volunteer organization that advocates
for the instructional needs of gifted and talented and higher-achieving
students in Montgomery County and serves as a resource on giftedness for parents, educators, and other
interested parties in the community.
- We support offering real accelerated and enriched curricula in all academic subjects in all grades (curriculum).
- We support performance-based ability grouping, that research has shown to maximize student achievement (homogeneous grouping).
- And we support making accelerated and enriched instruction available to any student with the ability or motivation to accept that challenge (no arbitrary MCPS gate-keeping).
Visit our listserv -- going strong since August, 2000 -- at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GTAletters/ to join the free-wheeling conversation and stay abreast of the latest GT developments in the county.
